The only thing you can use from the previous season are the race rewards, and then ONLY after 30 days so that it doesn't impact the early league and give racers an unfair advantage. The entire point of a season is that you start fresh. I used to keep some of my D3 characters "just in case" but in over 5 years I have NEVER a single time logged in to play permanent and not seasonal.so the only ones I keep now are nostalgia (my original characters) and all my new ones get deleted. I personally delete most, if not all of my characters when a season is over in both D3 and PoE. It depends on whether you ever intend to play "permanent" or if you will always play in the seasonal temp league. Is character name is unique? Can 2 players in PoE have the same name? When the leagues end, all characters and stashes from them are merged into the permanent leagues. These leagues have some sort of twist on the base game, and have a softcore and hardcore version. Then there are a pair of temporary leagues, which usually last 3 months and I guess are the equivalent of D3 seasons. Hardcore, which is the same as Standard except that the death of a character sends the character and all its gear to Standard rather than you just losing a bit of xp. Standard, which is a permanent league that has run since January 2013. At any given time (more or less), there are four leagues running. When starting a new season, can you use old items in your stash? Or do you start fresh? Is there any reason to keep a character after the end of each season?
